DAR Recognition for SAR member recruitment

I am writing to introduce myself and to ask for the DAR’s assistance in one of my big projects. I am the current Idaho State Society SAR President for 2026-2028, and during my two-year term I have a goal to increase SAR membership in Idaho. I have met many of you already, but outside of the Treasure Valley not as many.
The DAR and SAR have developed a successful and supportive relationship over the past years, and I hope to expand that and with more joint ventures and by supporting each other’s projects.
There are currently aspects of SAR membership that I want to tell you about, (1) awards to DAR for SAR recruitment, and (2) the special reduced application fee for July 2026 for $76 honoring 1776.
A. Special recognition of individual DAR members who recruit new SAR members: Since 2025 there are 3 medals that can be given to DAR members from SAR for excellence in recruiting. These three medals are:
1. Abigail Adams may be awarded to a DAR member for two or more approved applications submitted with a DAR Finder Form within the Calendar Year.
2. Deborah Sampson may be awarded to a DAR member for five or more approved applications submitted with a DAR Finder Form within the Calendar Year.
3. Lucy Knox may be awarded to a DAR member for eight or more approved applications submitted with a DAR Finder Form within the Calendar Year.

B. DAR State Societies can be awarded for the total number of new SAR members. This is a national two-track system.
1. The first is using a leveling formula by percentage using the highest percentage with the number of applications that have the DAR finder form submitted versus the total number of applications submitted taking into account the State Society total of active members. The DAR State Society that has the highest score of participation as a factor of participation in the program will be awarded certificates and $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place to the DAR State Society.
2. The second track is State Societies with the highest raw numbers of approved SAR members using the DAR Finder Form, with $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place to the DAR State Society.
In Idaho, we will ensure that the official DAR Finder Report Form is included with each application submitted.
The special reduced registration fee is detailed in the poster. This represents a 50% reduction in cost for new applications submitted in July 2026.
Most DAR members have brothers, sons, grandsons, and nephews that could apply more easily using the DAR Record Copy process that is agreed to between DAR and SAR. We are seeing an increase in Junior members as gift memberships. These are young men under age 18 and the annual dues are only $5. At age 18 they can convert to a regular SAR member without any additional fees.
I am asking that DAR leaders help spread this information among DAR members. DAR members can email me directly with contacts and I will facilitate getting the candidate connected to a registrar who can assist them in the application process in their area or by a state level registrar. They can also use the membership inquiry function on the website sar.org.
I am looking forward to the next two years and working together.
Thank you for your support in this membership growth endeavor.
Respectfully,
